One of the images from my thesis project "Native Texas Tallgrass Prairies" - a project documenting the disappearing prairie, the extent and causes of the loss, and the diligent restoration work being done.

Dinner Time

Another wonderful opportunity for photos in our own backyard. These American Pelicans visited for several weeks on their way south this spring. No wonder the fishermen couldn't catch a single trout!

Out traveling the back roads of Texas this weekend as we love to do. One of our last stops for the day was in Mineola, Texas, a charming small town with many vintage sights to see. This is the Beckham Hotel which sits directly across the street from the train station. The Hotel was built in the 1880's and now serves as a private residence, while the train depot is still used by twice-daily Amtrak train service.

Visited the farmers market in McKinney today, great place to shoot photos.

It's been a while since we'd been dirt track racin so we spent the evening at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. Bandit non-wing sprints and IMCA dirt modifieds on the track. Had fun seeing some old friends - racers and photographers.

Primrose

A little flower work on the prairie. Macro lens, then combined sixteen images in Helicon Focus creating depth of field. Slight use of filter in Topaz. Long story about the condition of our transportation on this little expedition, but that's for another day. Involves some deep mud, a shovel and a flat tire.

Sad times, no good answers or solutions to the problem of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. More wildlife lost and endangered.

The photo workshop was great, always fun to get to talk to fellow picture-taking enthusiasts. As usual, the leader gets to learn too. There will be another workshop scheduled very soon and possibly some on-location shooting time - stay tuned!
